Screening at Roosevelt:

  • All children in Minnesota must be screened before they start kindergarten (or 30 days after start date) and within 90 days of a state-funded preschool program. We require children to be screened or have an appointment set-up before the start of preschool.
  • Screening helps connect the family and child to community resources and determine if they should be referred to our special education team for further evaluation.
  • A child must be three to complete early childhood screening. Screening results are based on a child's chronological age.
  • Appointments typically run about an hour, and both the child and parent need to be present.
  • Screening is scheduled online! Our appointments vary throughout the week to offer both morning and afternoon screening sessions.
